Zion Alliance wins Tradewind
May 31st
On May 26th, the Zion Alliance won Tradewind but lets let’s start with a short history of the zone and the alliance.
Harlequin was in the original Oceanic alliance, ANZAC, which also consisted of TOG, VanDiemens and Destinatus. It broke up. O.R.E came in and took over the zone for a bit. Harlequin and VD reformed under the Zion alliance and took out O..RE. who quit and reformed into Erebus while Intra and TGCI joined Harlequin. TGCI left and formed OER-C with Despair and later Intra. OER-C rallied and took all of Harlequin’s hexes bar one. Harlequin regrouped and decimated OER-C. VD disbanded due to trust issues and Valiant was formed and joined Harlequin.
The Zion Alliance placed the forge at the beginning of the zone opening, so they didn’t have to wait another day to complete the forge. ORSIS fought Zion, wanting to give them some competition since no one else ‘stood up’ and decided to get a pug team together with 5 members from their agency and 5 from Mpire, but they didn’t succeed and said it was for training purposes.
Whanny the leader of Harlequin said,
I just want to clarify that the forge was attacked by Orsis from their missile facility. The rumuor that Tradewind closed before they could attack it was a lie spread by Orsis to hide their humiliation. They also claimed that we had a tonne of tech and they didn’t use any, which is also a lie.
In the final forge fight we took 1 Gauss Platform and I was piloting 1 Vandal II. In the first few minutes they were unsuccessfully trying to take first point. They then tried bringing a Vandal along which I personally got the last hit on and destroyed it (I should have taken a screenshot).
Exier a Lieutenant from Harlequin said,
Everything was very fun and great. The whole goal of Harlequin was getting Tradewind active again and we achieved that by having nightly fights against OER-C until a few days before we placed our forge.
A anonymous player said,
The Oceanic community was dead until not long ago and despite what other people might believe, it was one of the maps with the most drama ever. I joined in the thick of it and not before so I’m not sure, but there was the whole ANZAC alliance and then Apostasy and Harlequin at war and how other agencies reacted. Personally, it was a whole lot better than fighting in the American zones where JL and the big
OSIRIS said,
OSIRIS congradulate Zion on their victory on a quiet morning on Tradewind, we felt Zion would prefer to have some competition over their win. OSIRIS put together a 5 man Agency team and 5 man PUG (consisting of Tradewind agencies) team to put up a fight towards the forge, we also feel the 2 SnG members who helped defend Zion’s forge deserve some mention as they played a good part in this map. Well Done Zion.
Regards OSIRIS Agency
Thanks to Whanny, Exier, and Mykell.
New Weapons: Video Preview
May 28th
Hi-Rez has released a new video talking about phase I of patch 1.3. They mainly go into depth on the new weapons for the classes but also there are glimpses of the two new maps near the end.
BeaconWarmers – The Beginning
May 21st
BeaconWarmers are one of the first GA machinimas by DPSFilmz. The machinima looks promising, but had a few moments which I found funny. Since this is the first episode you can’t be too harsh and hopefully it will improve over future episodes.
Comedy 4.5/10
Voice Acting 5/10
Camera skills 8/10
Overall 6.5/10
Sov-win
May 19th
Congratulations to Ralek and the Nexus alliance; Sovereign has been won.
The day began with Nexus placing their forge on a 100% Tech III Factory 5 minutes before the zone opened. There were 2 factories bordering it and just 2 defense facilities covering it. Nexus had 5 strike forces available and many extra players to bid on unclaimed hexes so they set out to paint the map purple. They began with ViE in the southeast who dropped their hexes and SnG in the northeast. MC then dropped their hexes and began fighting with SnG. Shortly into the map, the Troll alliance formed up a pug strike force to fight Nexus, but were defended against. The agency “Forge” also began attacking Nexus’s defense facilities surrounding the forge, but was mostly unsuccessful. By the time the zone was half over, Nexus controlled over 75% of the map. However, Forge beat Nexus’s Paradox team on a defense facility 800-795, and after a lockdown caused by a Nexus strike force leader crashing, a missile facility was placed. However, Nexus paid JL “as insurance” to defend the forge for them on this occasion, sparking much outburst on the forums. The lockdown lasted until the end of the zone, and with just minutes remaining, the forge completed and Nexus won the zone. Congratulations to agencies:
Hayabusa (Nexium and Ralek)
-Paradox- (Nocturnion and DktorXeno) [-Paradox- is tagged as Rakanishu on the victory screen]
Twofold (Saltysurfer)
Einherjar (Releah)
Videos:

Forge vs JL on Nexus Forge (Forge perspective)

JL vs. Nexus (Sieg)
(More videos to come in the future)
- Seconds before map closed Nexus contolled a vast majority of Sovereign.
Sovereign has been a great map, Nexus had been there since day 1 fighting Rebel and GoonAgenda. It is great to have seen a map change hands so many times. Sovereign has been colored Green,Red, Yellow, Purple, Red again, and finally Purple again to end it all. Definitely a fitting end to a map with more activity than most to date.
Mpire Won Obelisk!
May 17th
Mpire won Obelisk even though they lost their forge not long ago. This was due to them pulling the forge out of the factory before JL took it. Mpire won the same prizes as JL had in the past, and those prizes are rumored not to be changed until phase lll of patch 1.3.
Seinken, the leader of Legendary said;
We won the map due to inactivity from EVERYONE — if ava were to continue this way I would suggest to HiRez to simply to take down Obelisk.. no one played it apart from like 2 SF’s of ours, and most of the time only 1.
Hopefully a zone-win like this won’t occur again. It was boring for the most part. Anyway, here is a video of HexNation playing around with ten vindicators while locking down a hex from Mpire which didn’t affect them at all.
Sandstorm Phase l On Test Server
May 8th
Sandstorm Phase l has been released on the test server, but is only available till the end of this Sunday. If you can’t connect to the sever i would check out the GATestSvrStatus on Twitter otherwise it could be a problem associated with your computer.
General Notes
- For testing purposes, Version 1.3 is being released to the Public Test Server in phases. Version 1.3(A) represents the first phase of a multi-phase set of feature upgrades. Once we are comfortable with each phase of functionality, we will release the next phase to the Public Test Server.
- The sequencing and timing of deployment to the Live servers will be dictated by what is found in Public Test Server testing.
- In future phases, we will be introducing Alliance vs Alliance changes, Open PvE Zones, a 64-person PvP Warzone and much more, coming to the Public Test Server soon. For a discussion of the currently planned development roadmap and the reasoning for the phased implementation, visit here.
Overlord OVER!!
May 7th

JL dropped the forge on Wednesday. It started out with very few attacks from agencies and there were talks of doing a scrim of Protocol A team vs Protocol B team on the forge but that idea was dropped when every Overlord agency attacked JL at the same time, however, ironically, some of these strike forces were filled out by JL members that weren’t on any teams and were attacking their own agency for the lulz. As the attacks kept coming (around 6 at a time) JL was keeping pace holding all the defence hexes near the base although some of the hexes in the southern region of the map were ninja’d from Ninja. All hexes were being successfully defended. In one of these defenses against Cerberus, however, Ninja ended up losing their only Golden Vandal to the beam at Power in a defense facility (the first and only golden vandal destroyed).
The map then ended with JL holding most of their hexes and all of the hexes around their forge. The next day, it started out with everyone attacking JL again, but JL still held every hex around the base allowing nobody to nuke it. As the forge came closer to completion Protocol kicked Ninja and Beast from the alliance, therefor striking their names off of the zone win page exactly one tick to the forge being built. The reasoning behind this was that the leadership of the two clans were deciding on joining ISBAD after Overlord was over.
With no 100% factory bonus hex on the map JL placed the Forge on a base hex for a better defensible position which is why it took two days instead of one like forge on Warlord.
The reward for winning the zone were the same as with the other two wins (Citadel and Warlord). Helms were passed to the active players of Beast and Ninja but not their leaders. With so many extra helms, Vexturia and Protocol sold them to randoms along with a few Black Lance Vandals.
